My mom grew up among the Pennsylvania Dutch as a child in Happy Valley, and used the word hankering when she was craving something very badly. Usually potato chips.

Like most of humanity, I’m possessed by good food. Like Regan from the original 1973 horror film The Exorcist.

Hankerings is a place to share ideas and recipes for craveable foods.  Some recipes, if your fridge looks anything like mine, can be pulled together without having to go to the store.

Other times, you may not be able to justify the ingredients or cooking processes that are truly, unnecessarily time-consuming or cost, honestly, too much money. But I hope you do anyway, because why not eat exactly what you want?

Except for sweet food. The sweetest food you’re gonna see me prepare is probably a Bloody Mary.
